When Lavan Dementia Care Services came to us, they didn’t ask for a flashy new website.

They didn’t want bells and whistles. They weren’t interested in trendy features or gimmicks.

They just said this:
“We need the website to be easier to understand—without losing who we are.”

And that’s exactly the kind of project we love at Sheepdog Marketing.


A Website Full of Heart (and a Little Too Much of Everything)

Lavan is a nurse-led dementia care organisation based in Guisborough. Their work is remarkable—offering clinical support, at-home care, and a welcoming day service for people living with dementia and their families.

Their website, on the other hand, was starting to feel… a little overwhelming.

It was packed with content: community activities, staff bios, colourful graphics, event calendars, and loads of heartfelt text. All the love and energy they pour into their work was right there on the screen—but for the average visitor, it was a lot to take in.

Navigating the site was tricky. The tone was friendly, but sometimes unclear. And for families under pressure—trying to make quick decisions about care—it didn’t deliver the calm, confident reassurance Lavan gives in person.


The Mission: Make It Clearer, Kinder, and More Professional

We always say our job at Sheepdog Marketing is to guide—not just design.

With Lavan, our role was to gently steer the website into a more structured, modern format—without stripping away the warmth and personality that makes them special.

Together, we focused on four big goals:

  1. Simplify the user journey
  2. Modernise the look and feel
  3. Refine the messaging and tone
  4. Ensure the site works beautifully on mobile devices

From Cluttered to Calm

The new website is designed to do one thing really well: help people find the information they need—quickly, clearly, and without stress.

We introduced clean layouts with lots of white space. We kept the purple and yellow brand colours, but used them more gently. Each service is now presented as a simple, bite-sized card with a “Find out more” button, guiding people through the site step-by-step.

The main menu is lean and purposeful, centred around a single “Our Services” dropdown. From there, users can explore:

  • Independent Dementia Nurse Support
  • At-Home Care
  • The Dementia Day Care Service at Sleights Community Hub

It’s all focused, intentional, and respectful of the time and attention people bring when they land on the site.
