That was the first question Lavan Dementia Care Services asked us.
This nurse-led, deeply compassionate organisation based in Guisborough had built something truly special: a place where people living with dementia and their families could feel supported, valued, and seen. But their website? It wasn’t telling that story clearly anymore.
It was heartfelt but cluttered. Informative but overwhelming. Warm but difficult to navigate—especially for older adults or stressed family members searching for reassurance.
Our challenge was simple but important: make the website clearer, calmer, and more professional—without losing its heart.
🧭 Where We Started
The original website was full of energy.
It featured everything from service descriptions and contact information to newsletters, community events, activity clubs, galleries, and detailed schedules. There were bright purple and yellow colour blocks, friendly handwritten fonts, and pages upon pages of passionate copy.
The site had soul—but not structure.
Users often felt lost. Services weren’t easy to find. Mobile visitors had trouble navigating. And the overall aesthetic, though well-meaning, no longer reflected the expert, professional care Lavan was providing.

- Simplifying the experience – Restructuring the site to guide users through a clear, intuitive journey.
- Modernising the design – Creating space with a clean, minimalist look while honouring the brand’s colours and warmth.
- Elevating the tone – Rewriting and refining content to be reassuring, expert, and accessible.
- Respecting the audience – Making it easy for older adults and family caregivers to find information quickly and calmly.

We replaced heavy visuals and text blocks with elegant white space, softened colour usage, and modular content cards. The iconic purple and yellow brand palette remains—but is now used with restraint and purpose.

Navigation is now focused under a single “Our Services” menu, directing visitors to:

Gone are the long-scroll pages and scattered links. In their place? A gentle, guided experience.
